New Mexico Birds

I think an interesting thing is that they all have Indian characteristics. I think the Goldfinches look Hopi with black masks. The Black-headed Grosbeak definitely New Mexican colors -- The Rufus Hummingbird, a belligerent little guy and he comes-- out of now where, Magic! With that glowing red throat! Shaman bird.

Birds in NM

Every May 21st I see a different group of birds at my feeder before and after this date. I pick 21st as I saw 12 Western Tanagers one spring in our Cottonwood tree. They come up the green stripe in NM which is the Rio Grande into the Chama River up into Colorado I guess.

The Evening Grosbeaks come with Black-headed and Rose-breasted.

Western Bluebird. Comes with Robins. I've noticed the birds come together with what eats similar things. Bugs, seeds, and emerging flowers in case of Cottonwood.

Anna's Hummer,  I think. This one seems to know where the feeder was last year and demanded I put it up.

Black Headed Grosbeak is the most NM looking bird I think.

Lazuli Bunting like a cage bird.

Grosbeak has a very warm yellow spot on Breast.

Lawrence Finch, a western Goldfinch. There will be tons later as the seeds are around. Sunflowers and such.
